THE FESTIVAL
Rieti International Film Festival is the first international film festival held in the capital of the Rieti province. The event was conceived by director Nicolas Morganti Patrignani and editor Gerardo Lamberti, and is entirely organized and produced by the audiovisual production company REA Film, based in Rieti.
The main goal of the Rieti International Film Festival is to promote independent short films in all their forms as an artistic and expressive language. The festival aims to establish an annual event in Rieti where directors, videomakers, industry professionals, and cinema enthusiasts can meet, exchange ideas, and share their experiences.
Special attention will also be given to the promotion of the local area as a filming location and as a source of cultural opportunities.

“REA D’ORO” AWARD
The statuette, awarded to all winners of the RIFF, is inspired by the legend of Rea Silvia, mother of Romulus and Remus, from whom the city of Rieti is said to have taken its name.
One version of the legend tells that Rea Silvia was buried alive in Rieti by order of her uncle Amulius, who was furious that his niece had broken her vow of chastity. Romulus and Remus were entrusted to a servant who saved them by placing them in a basket and setting it adrift on the waters of the Tiber River. Miraculously, the basket floated safely down the river and came to rest at the very spot where the twins would later found Rome.
